Hi, my name is Steve Vincent and I hail from England, in the United Kingdom. I set this site up to display galleries of my photographs and, hopefully, over time some of my other artwork including drawings and digital art.
I’ve enjoyed looking at drawings and paintings since I was small. With the encouragement of my class teacher in primary school, Mr Cody, I first took an interest in the horse paintings of George Stubbs and the landscapes of John Constable. In my early teens, along with a developing taste in music I became interested in the fantasy art of Roger Dean, Rodney Matthews and – from his covers for the classic Dr Who paperback series published by Target – Chris Achilleos. I also devoured Marvel comics but often based on the artist rather than the featured character: John Romita, Neal Adams and Jim Steranko were my favourites.
While studying graphic art at secondary school I was introduced to photography as a medium. I had taken family and holiday ‘snaps’ like most people but producing black and white prints in the darkroom had a big impact on me and I began to take more interest in photographers, especially those who were master printers like Bob Carlos Clarke.
Although I always assumed I would work in some artistic capacity when I left school, I have in fact worked in technology for the past three decades. My enthusiasm for photography has not waned in that time, but lack of practice has affected my drawing skills. I’m hoping to find time to practice again and eventually post some of those here too.
